"The Summertime" Amsterdam

With the completion of Summertime, the 2,000th house on the Zuidas has been realized. It once again marks the transformation of a mono office area into an attractive and lively district where work and pleasant living and staying go hand in hand.

Summertime is a complex consisting of two apartment buildings, on top of a communal parking garage. The aim was to achieve maximum views and maximum mutual distance - from each other and the surrounding buildings. The buildings taper towards each other, as it were. The blocks with colorful details consist of a system of stacked houses that are staggered in relation to each other like three-dimensional "pixels". This principle of staggering creates a wide variety of outdoor spaces and individual readability of the apartments. At the same time, the staggered areas create noise-free zones at the local level and provide a strong individual identity with regard to the surrounding building blocks. The result is a great variety and high living quality.
