"NPD Monk" Utrecht
For years, the sorting center of the Dutch Parcel Service (NPD) stood on Brailledreef, next to the Overvecht Shopping Center. The location is now being transformed into a residential area with three apartment buildings and a residential tower for students.
There will be 343 rental homes in the three residential buildings, most of which will be in the mid-rent segment. There will also be care homes in these buildings.
In one of the buildings, 112 apartments are being built with an average size of 70 m2 plus a commercial space of 315 m2. Another tower consists of 94 life-course residences ranging from 44 to 86 m2, a commercial space of 655 m2 and a central area of 1395 m2. In addition, there will be three group homes with a total of 24 units for elderly people with dementia.
In the middle building, a so-called "Superplint" is being developed, a large hall of approximately 1,400m² in total, where (starting) entrepreneurs and art and cultural facilities are given a place. In addition, AM, together with the municipality of Utrecht and the builder, BAM Wonen, offers work placements in the construction industry for young people and jobseekers from Overvecht.
